Butterflies from 4/26 - Pipe Vine Swallowtails, I believe | My main butterfly page. |
This page features some 4/29/2006 Images from the HAS dark sky site near Columbus, TX, USA. The evening started out with some thin clouds, but the skies did clear as the Clear Sky Clock predicted.
On another topic, I finally observed Gacrux, which is the northernmost star in the Southern Cross, this night. It was approximately 3 degrees above the horizon, just west of due south, and was visible both naked eye and with binocs. I had to maneuver to get the lowest possible horizon between the trees. This is the 4th time I've tried it, and sky conditions never cooperated well enough the previous times. Another observer (Jim, I believe) saw it as well.
Camera: Canon EOS 20Da. All images prime focus using my Takahashi TOA 130 (a 5" APO refractor), and a Losmandy G-11 mount.
