IC 417 (and NGC 1931) Pictures
The Whale and Hockey Stick Galaxies

All astronomy images: Canon EOS 20Da (unmodified), Takahashi TOA 130 (a 5" APO refractor) with the TAK flattener, guided with SBIG STV, Astro-Physics AP 900GTO mount. My current image processing workflow is here.
I decided to give NGC2997 a try as it was a southern target of opportunity between 1:25 and 2:40 a.m., rising to only about 30 degrees above the southern hoizon. This image is 16x4 = 64 minutes total exposure. Here's a 1996 APOD version. This looks a lot better with 5 hours exposure on a 14" scope and a CCD.
