This area is just south of M24, the little star cloud, in Sagittarius. "The Sky" had a photo from this area that looked cool, so I decided to give it a try after I was done with other exposures in this area. It was quite low in the sky while shooting; 12 degrees above the horizon when I finished just before midnight on 9/20/2006.
Image details. Only 8 x 4 = 32 minutes total exposures on 9/20/2006 at the HAS site near Columbus. Canon EOS 20Da (unmodified), Takahashi TOA 130 (a 5" APO refractor), Losmandy G-11 mount. My current image processing workflow is here.
