Colorful Lichen

Lichen from March 2007.  I think I must have had a lot of clouds on this trip since I was taking the time to take macro shots of lichen ;-)

Note the four or five distinct colors in the lichen.  There is also a bit of a grey card  on the lower left.  Having a grey reference allows a simple and accurate "color correction process" where you use your image editing software to set an exact neutral color temperature.

Below: The backlighting on the grasses in the late afternoon were very interesting on the October 2008 visit.  I tried to capture some of that in the images below...
